Inclusive Masculinity Theory is a theory which suggest that there has been a shift in the expected behaviour of men towards them being able to express their feelings for each other. This has resulted in reduced levels of homophobia, leading to men forming more intimate friendships with one another due to being less afraid of being labelled as gay. University has been identified as a time in men’s lives in which they form some of these highly intimate friendships, something which they struggle with after leaving university. Through an approach inspired by typology and the deadpan aesthetic, ‘Bromance’ draws on Inclusive Masculinity Theory and captures the individualities and character of a close group of friends at university.
