Files made availiable by: Tegan Jay

Tegan Jay’s From the Ritz to the Rubble is a collection of archival documents chronicling the first-hand real-life accounts of the Northern working-class, through the economic and social challenges of the 1980s and 1990s. Jay says: “The deindustrialisation of the industrial North under Thatcherite policies had a great impact on my family’s lives, yet they showed their resilience against the decline of the coal and steel mining industries and continued to live through the pain and loss – proving that a community can’t and never will be broken.”
