OROA is a traditional/digital children’s toy set which helps parents and children to talk about the subject of mental health using the 3 methods interact, distract and extract. Katie Galley was inspired by the ITV campaign ‘Britain Get Talking’ .The doll-like idea was inspired by the cuteness of baby schema and conversations with therapists, as children take comfort in talking to inanimate objects rather than directly to humans.

Galley is developing a collection of work which makes a difference in a positive way to various problems. With a focus on bringing people together.

OROA
The toys are: IGOR - The interactive toy which encourages children to express themselves through the movement of objects, the three varying sized toys can be used to represent people in real life situations when markers are needed to explain a story where words alone do not suffice. DITA: The distract toy is for children who love to fiddle, with twistable textured rings of Dita to helps to take their minds off distressing thoughts. ELLY: The extract toy helps parents get information out of their child during distressing conversations. Children write their thoughts onto a piece of paper and post them into Elly’s tummy, she eats and erases these negative thoughts and leaves the child feeling positive. Parents have the option to read these notes to understand their child's emotions.
