RE-Charge is a smart electric bike charging station aimed at electric mountain bike users.
Electric bikes (E-bikes) are gaining popularity but there is a lack of infrastructure to support them. With people more likely to be using electric vehicles in the future E-bike charging stations are needed to help accelerate their use. As people move towards greener modes of personal transport, cars dominance is being challenged. RE-Charge’s inbuilt security features give users peace of mind that their bike will be safe from theft. The supporting app offers a mapping service to locate stations, real time charge status and a theft warning feature. RE-Charge is designed to be used at popular mountain biking locations across the country, with the potential to be adapted for city use as well to eliminate range anxiety for all electric bike users.

Josh Ellis’ work is based around user-centred design, solving real life problems for real people.

“Being an observant person, I often notice small details that can make the difference between an adequate design and a good one”.

Other designs have included a ready-to-manufacture bike light and an RSI-reducing hand sander.
