In the year 2000, there were 600 million people worldwide aged 60 and over. It is expected by 2050 there will be 2 billion, which will exceed the number of young people for the first time in history. The care industry is already an overstretched and underfunded area of society, which is likely to worsen with time.
Caroline Todd has designed the Sous Chef Multi-Cooker to prolong independence within the kitchen for the over 65s. Simplicity and familiarity are very important when designing for older users and this product embodies that. Each feature of the cooker, which has 13 different programs, has been designed with the users’ mental and physical capabilities in mind. Complete with an inner pan, steamer tray, instructions and recipe booklet, the user has everything they need to keep enjoying cooking within their own home.
