Suppression of the movements

This piece is a statement raising awareness of the Palestine issue. The artist portrays how every movement, particularly those addressing contentious topics like Palestine, often faces initial opposition and is viewed as taboo or controversial. By shedding light on this dynamic, the artwork prompts viewers to reflect on the challenges faced by such movements and the importance of pushing boundaries to address pressing social and political issues.

The mirror serves as an outward reflection of our individuality, capturing the essence of our daily routines and rituals. It symbolizes the confidence and self-assurance we strive to embody as we navigate our lives, from the simple act of waking up to the empowering moment of facing ourselves in the mirror each morning. It reminds us to embrace and cherish our freedom of speech and individuality as we embark on our daily journey, empowering us to navigate life with authenticity and confidence. The message is to be confident in our choices and beliefs: “Knowledge is power, being united is power, freedom is power, what has history taught us? Stop the suppression, stop the genocide! Spread the word,” states the artist.

Using a diverse array of mixed media, including custom graphic t-shirts, protest signs, street art, and elements from current Palestine newspapers and fabrics, the artist creates a fusion representing the shared essence of both the Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Palestine movements.

THERE’S A SOFT WORLD JUST UNDER THE SURFACE OF THIS ONE. YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING PULLED TAUGHT OVER IT. I CAN FEEL ITS TEXTURE WHEN YOU HOLD MY HAND. WHEN WE TOUCH IT, NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME EVER AGAIN.
