A smart home air quality monitor which monitors both indoor and outdoor air quality forms Joe Faulks’ graduate project. Many illnesses can be worsened by poor air quality such as heart and lung conditions. The air quality monitor can records temperature, humidity, CO2, noise and particle matter informing enabling users to take action to improve unhealthy air qualities in the house to benefit their overall health. For Faulks it is important for “the customer to feel the product that they have bought has been designed specifically for them”. To this end, Faulks allows the customer to choose from a range of colour schemes and create customised profiles within the monitor.

Faulks has done several projects for the internet security company IOETEC, including designing their company logo, designing 3D printed display cases for them to demonstrate their service during presentations and he is currently working on a service demonstration video showcasing the company’s offer.
