1.Hero – The cost of ultimate protection
Jay Dennis
An Arm and a Leg

Jay Dennis has developed a speculative prosthetic for a future where the body is a consumer item which can be upgraded. This transhuman product is designed for motorcycling enthusiasts looking to push for increased performance, safety, and comfort.  With a focus on high performance materials and manufacture the prosthesis provides the user with ultimate protection (at RRP + the loss of a limb). At a fraction of the weight of a human leg, users no longer need to worry about lower extremity injuries. Instead thanks to a carbon fibre socket and an in-built titanium knee pad the user can walk away from accidents with nothing but a scratch.

Analysing whether these advancements would really be better than our existing bodies, Dennis’ project uses humour to questioning the possibility and desirability of prosthetic advancements being used to modify our bodies and create a future of ‘superhumans’.
