Influenced by the story of Alice in Wonderland, Sammi Luong creates a terrarium, trapping a magical world that she deems to be her own safe space. A reset of Earth so divine and filled with nature, represents a pure world that her inner child longed for before realising how cruel reality is. Standing at 25cm tall and 22cm wide, the terrarium acts as a shield to show the separation between her mind and body, so the memories of her childhood and personal safe bubble cannot be tainted. Overtaken with crystal-like flowers, flying fish, fruit and cake growing from trees, Sammi creates these delicate objects to embody the precious but fragile spirit of innocence as it is special but can be so easily lost. She uses mainly materials like resin, beads and wires as their surfaces can take advantage of the natural lighting for the terrarium to be basked in. As a reminder of how harsh the reality is, the safe space becomes infected with bloodied flowers and insects disguised as flowers as they roam around. These are the intricate and twisted details only noticed when looked at closely.

Behind the terrarium are stained glass windows, which depict a view of flowers blossoming in the absence of humans and their pollution. As the light shines through, a relaxing atmosphere is created, hopefully to evoke feelings of peace and happiness in the viewer. It is made with 70 sheets of static cling, glass paint and PVA glue, which results in an almost blurry view from the outside, creating a more private and intimate setting.
