This installation is a physical embodiment of the frustrations ATLAS feels regarding how sexual violence against women and children still runs rampant and how culture is a tool used to protect the rapists and pedophiles.

This concept is explored through a make-shift aviary with various anthropomorphic creatures seeking safety from the cage that they live in. A 3:30-ish minute video showing quick passing moments of birds, sketches and a stop-motion she has recorded, overlaid with text saying the words that struggle to leave her mouth plays during this installation. ATLAS’S inconsistent heartbeat can be heard throughout the duration of the video.

“While I don’t verbally speak here, my heart does and there’s a struggle there too, If you were a bird, which one would you be? Do you think you’d be a little bit freer? A little bit safer?”
